Question 1

Can Symbicort cause weight gain?

Accepted Answer

Weight gain is not a common side effect of inhaled Symbicort. Systemic corticosteroids can cause fluid retention, but at inhaled doses this is unlikely unless very high doses are used for long periods.

Question 2

Does Symbicort affect blood pressure?

Accepted Answer

Formoterol can cause a slight increase in heart rate and blood pressure in some people, but this is usually mild. If you have uncontrolled hypertension, your doctor will monitor you closely.

Question 3

Can I drink alcohol while using Symbicort?

Accepted Answer

There is no direct interaction, but alcohol may worsen some side effects like dizziness or headache. Always drink responsibly and consult your doctor if you have concerns.

Question 4

Will Symbicort affect my sleep?

Accepted Answer

Formoterol can occasionally cause nervousness or insomnia, especially when first started. These effects usually diminish with continued use. Taking your evening dose earlier in the day may help.

Question 5

What should I do if I miss a dose and get side effects?

Accepted Answer

Missing a dose does not usually cause side effects. Just take your next scheduled dose. Do not double up. If you experience worsening asthma symptoms, use your reliever inhaler and contact your doctor.
