Question 1

What if you miss a dose?

Accepted Answer

If you forget to apply it at bedtime and remember within a few hours, apply it immediately. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose – do not double up. Resume your regular schedule the next night.

Question 2

What if you use too much?

Accepted Answer

Accidentally using more than one applicatorful in a night is unlikely to cause harm, but if you have concerns or accidentally swallow the cream, contact your doctor or pharmacist for advice.

Question 3

Can I use Dalacin Cream during my period?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can continue using the cream during your period. Do not use tampons – use sanitary pads instead, as tampons may absorb the cream and reduce its effectiveness.

Question 4

How soon after finishing Dalacin Cream can I have sex?

Accepted Answer

Wait at least 72 hours after the last dose before relying on condoms or diaphragms, as the cream base can weaken latex. You may resume sexual activity when symptoms have resolved and treatment is complete.

Question 5

What should I do if the cream leaks out?

Accepted Answer

Some leakage is normal, especially the next day. Wearing a panty liner can protect your clothing. If leakage is excessive, check you inserted the applicator correctly and consider applying at bedtime to minimise movement.

Question 6

Can I drink alcohol while using Dalacin Cream?

Accepted Answer

Yes, alcohol does not interact with clindamycin cream. Unlike metronidazole (another BV treatment), there is no need to avoid alcohol. However, always follow your doctor's specific advice.

Question 7

What if I am pregnant and have BV?

Accepted Answer

BV in pregnancy can increase the risk of complications, so treatment is often recommended. Your doctor may prescribe Dalacin Cream if they consider it safe for you and your baby. Always consult your doctor before use.
