Question 1

How long should I continue using Otomize after symptoms improve?

Accepted Answer

Continue for 2 full days after symptoms completely clear. This ensures complete eradication of infection and reduces recurrence risk. Typically this means 5-7 days total treatment for most ear infections.

Question 2

Can I use Otomize if I have a perforated eardrum or grommets?

Accepted Answer

No, Otomize is contraindicated with perforated eardrums or grommets. The neomycin component could reach the inner ear, potentially causing hearing damage. Always have your eardrum checked if perforation is suspected.

Question 3

What should I do if I miss a dose of Otomize?

Accepted Answer

If remembered within 2 hours, use it immediately. If longer, skip that dose and continue with the next scheduled dose. Never double dose to catch up. Maintain your regular three-times-daily schedule.

Question 4

Can children use Otomize ear spray and is the dose different?

Accepted Answer

Children over 2 years can use Otomize with the same dose as adults: one spray per ear, three times daily. It's not recommended for children under 2. An adult should administer it to ensure proper technique.
