Question 1

Why does tadalafil cause back and muscle pain in some people?

Accepted Answer

Tadalafil inhibits PDE11 enzymes in skeletal muscles, causing temporary muscle soreness similar to exercise pain. This typically affects lower back and thighs, starting 4-8 hours after taking it and resolving within 48 hours.

Question 2

Can I take painkillers for tadalafil side effects like headache?

Accepted Answer

Yes, paracetamol is generally safe for tadalafil-related headaches. Avoid NSAIDs like ibuprofen if you have kidney issues. For muscle pain, gentle stretching and warm baths often help more than medication.

Question 3

Do tadalafil side effects get better or worse with continued use?

Accepted Answer

Most side effects diminish with continued use, especially with daily dosing where the body adapts over 5-7 days. With as-needed dosing, side effects tend to remain consistent but may become less bothersome.

Question 4

Are tadalafil side effects worse than other ED medications?

Accepted Answer

Tadalafil has more muscle/back pain but less visual disturbance than sildenafil. Overall side effect rates are similar (15-30% for all PDE5 inhibitors). Choice depends on which side effect profile suits you better.

Question 5

Can I reduce tadalafil side effects by taking a lower dose?

Accepted Answer

Yes, side effects are dose-dependent. Switching from 20mg to 10mg as-needed or from 5mg to 2.5mg daily often reduces side effects while maintaining effectiveness for many men.
