What is Aronix?

Aronix contains the active substance sildenafil citrate, which belongs to a class of medicines known as phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors.

Mechanism of Action

During sexual stimulation, the body releases nitric oxide in the penis. This triggers the production of a chemical called cGMP, which relaxes the smooth muscles and widens the blood vessels in the penis. This process, called vasodilation, allows more blood to flow in, resulting in an erection. The enzyme PDE5 breaks down cGMP. Aronix works by inhibiting PDE5, which increases the levels of cGMP, enhancing the natural erectile response and helping to achieve and maintain a firmer erection.

Patient-Friendly Analogy: Think of sexual stimulation as turning on a water tap, cGMP as the water pressure, and PDE5 as a leak in the pipe. Aronix patches the leak (inhibits PDE5), allowing pressure (cGMP) to build up effectively, resulting in a stronger flow of water (blood) to the penis.

What is Aronix Used For?

Aronix is a treatment for men aged 18 years and older with erectile dysfunction (ED).

Erectile dysfunction, also known as impotence, is the inability to achieve or maintain an erection firm enough for satisfactory sexual performance. It can manifest differently; some men cannot achieve an erection at all, while others cannot maintain it for long enough.

Before Using Aronix

You should schedule a health check-up with your doctor, especially within the first 6 months of starting treatment, as erectile dysfunction can be an early sign of underlying health conditions such as:

• Cardiovascular disease
• Diabetes
• High blood pressure
• High cholesterol

Medical History Assessment

• Heart problems (e.g., heart attack, stroke, angina, heart failure, irregular heartbeat)
• Low or high blood pressure

• History of priapism (a prolonged, painful erection lasting more than 4 hours)

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Aronix is contraindicated for use by women. It is not intended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Driving & Machine Operation

Aronix can cause dizziness, blurred vision, and colour tinge to vision. Do not drive or use machines if you experience these side effects after taking this medicine.

How to Use Aronix

Preparation Steps

1. Take one tablet as needed, approximately 1 hour before sexual activity
2. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water
3. Do not take more than 1 tablet in 24 hours

Aronix will only help you achieve an erection if you are sexually aroused.

Standard Dosage

Dose Adjustment

• The recommended dose is 50mg taken as described
• Based on efficacy and tolerance, your doctor may increase this dose to 100mg or decrease it to 25mg
• Aronix is available in a 50mg strength

Administration Instructions

Aronix can be taken with or without food. However, taking it after a high-fat meal may delay the onset of action. Do not take Aronix with grapefruit juice, as it can affect how the medicine works.

Optimal Use

• Relax and be patient if Aronix does not help you the first time
• You can try again later but remember you can only take 1 tablet a day
• For most men, Aronix will work the first or second time they try it
• If it has been some time since you were able to get an erection, it may take a couple of attempts

Missed Dose Management

As Aronix is taken on an "as-needed" basis, there is no daily dosing schedule, and the concept of a "missed dose" does not apply. Simply take one tablet when you plan to be sexually active, ensuring at least 24 hours have passed since your last dose.

Possible Side Effects

Serious Side Effects – Seek Immediate Medical Attention:

• Chest pain (uncommon): If this occurs, get in a semi-sitting position and try to relax. DO NOT use nitrates.
• Priapism (rare): An erection lasting more than 4 hours.
• Sudden decrease or loss of vision (rare).
• Severe allergic reaction (uncommon): Symptoms include swelling of the face/lips/throat, difficulty breathing.
• Serious skin reactions (rare): e.g., Stevens-Johnson Syndrome.
• Seizures (rare).

Other Side Effects (by Frequency):

• Very Common (>1 in 10): Headache.
• Common (up to 1 in 10): Nausea, indigestion, flushed face, dizziness, stuffy nose, blurred vision, colour tinge to vision.
• Uncommon (up to 1 in 100): Vomiting, muscle pain, rapid heartbeat, eye irritation, low blood pressure, rash.
• Rare (up to 1 in 1,000): Fainting, sudden hearing loss, heart attack, stroke, penile bleeding, blood in semen.
